Carl Sandburg National Park

We got home from the beach and spent one whole day there doing laundry and repacking so we could head to the mountains for a long weekend.  Stephen does the same series of races each year, so we happily headed there with him.

During one race day, we headed to the nearby Carl Sandburg National Park.  Berkley proudly wore his Junior Ranger vest and worked on the badge for the park.  The rangers there seemed to be shocked to see a kid with so many badges already!
My dad and Vickie live pretty close by, so they met us at the park, and we had such a fun time with them.
Showing off all of his badges to Papa...
We stopped for a fantastic performance of Sandburg's Rhutabaga Stories!  What a treat!
Love his words...
Taking the Junior Ranger pledge...
We ended our time together with a delicious lunch nearby...
